Updating the Blog

Over the past few months, there has been quite a bit of activity on the blog!

First, and perhaps foremost, there have been 27 new Huna Bulletins put up. These include all of Volume 3 and half of Volume 4, and present much more of the research that was being done by MFL and the HRAs.

Also, the Bulletins that were already there (Volumes 1 and 2) have been edited and cleaned up for easier and more comprehensible reading.

Because Max did them all on a mimeograph machine, each Bulletin needed to be scanned twice … once as an image and once for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to make it an editable, digital document. If you’ve ever worked with OCR scanning, you know that it helps some but is a nightmare for correcting. Getting the Bulletins done is a lot of work, but we’re chipping away at it so they will be available to all.

There are two sets of Huna Bulletins that were written by MFL. The first batch was written while he lived in Los Angeles and there are 124 of them. The second batch was written in Vista; there are 98 of these. They are separated into volumes by the year of publication. Volumes 1, 2, 3 and half of 4 from the first set are currently on the blog. We plan to add at least one-a-week into the future, probably on Tuesdays.

Along with the Bulletins, there have been a few new articles put up, like How To Use the Pendulum and Huna, the Workable Psycho-Religious System of the Polynesians. These are extras, not part of the Bulletins but issued at the same time. There is quite a bit of interesting Huna information contained in these articles, as well as some information about MFL himself in the more recently published articles about his death, MFL Died Sept. 23, 1971 and Remembering MFL (1971).

The blog is moving forward and those of you who have an interest in Huna have some great material to look forward to! We plan to get it ALL on the blog so that the research can continue to move forward with dialog and discussion on the work of Max Freedom Long.
