HUNA LIFE CHURCH DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
A/K/A
HAWAIIAN DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
In HUNA LIFE CHURCH we selected October 26th as our Day of Remembrance primarily because it is the day that Max Freedom Long made his transition.
What is the Day of Remembrance? It is the day that we take out time to remember those that have made their transition before us. It is respect that we the living, pay to those that have gone before us. It is not necessarily about fallen heroes but rather about anyone and everyone that has made their transition. And for paying our respect to those that we were close to us. Giving thanks for their contributions to our lives.
There is another part of this day that we honor as well and that is being of service to the Ke Akua or Living Divine Force. It is on this day that we as a membership create our connection through our Aumakua to assist Poe Aumakua and the Ke Akua in calling those that are lost who have made their transitions but not into the Light.
How do we do this as followers of the HUNA Way?
In our remembrance of our loved ones we gather Mana and send to their Aumakua to be used as they so see fit. We do this by doing deep breathing and channeling the Mana to our Unihipili and it will in turn send it to our Aumakua with our intentions. Our Aumakua knows what to do and will take that energy and direct it appropriately.
In our act of being of service to those in general who have made their transitions but have not joined the Light we create with our Aumakua the channel for them to join the Light. This is done by gathering Mana and sending it to our Aumakua with the intent of creating through our connection to the Ke Akua a gateway for these lost beings to join the Light. I first get permission from my Aumakua to do this. I do this by establishing the connection to my Aumakua through my Unihipili, state my request to open this channel through it for this purpose. Once I have received this permission I visualize my Mana going to the Unihipili and to the Aumakua and then I watch as the Aumakua establishes the communication to the Ke Akua and create the gateway. To me this has always appeared as a large column of Divine Light. It comes from above from where I know not but ends with me here or near me and I am the anchor here. I then do the Ha Rite or prayer by calling through the Column of Light to all beings that wish to join the Divine Light to enter the column. I am not in judgment but rather I am a facilitator of this action. Many times I have not watched to see what entered but I am aware that many beings do enter. I hold this column for about fifteen minutes or until I start getting tired and then I announce the closing and give thanks for those that have joined and state that I have hope for those that for whatever reasons were not able to join the Divine Light will do so in the future. With cooperation from my Aumakua we release the column.
It should be noted this action is not restricted to just the Day of Remembrance but we do it on this day as HUNA LIFE CHURCH members for sure. It is part of our duty to the Ke Akua as well as being a person of Light!

On the 38th Anniversary of Max Freedom Long’s Death

We all know about the time Max Freedom Long spent in Hawaii. It’s described very well in SSBM. The years spent in Los Angeles and Vista are also fairly well documented and, if you’ve read the Bulletins, you’ve followed the tracks of Huna over those years as well.

Max managed the Bulletins from February 1948 through December 1970. They were pretty consistent, and he didn’t miss an issue very often. They discuss many things, some ending up to be very productive and others being dead ends after further research. Max left no stone unturned if it could shed some light on Huna as he knew it. REMEMBERING MAX FREEDOM LONG ~ October 26, 1890 – September 23, 1971

Our beloved Max has Graduated. Thursday at 11 P.M., September 23rd at his hilltop home in Vista, California. I shall tell the story as simply and factually as possible.

Considered by many to be the world’s greatest authority in the Polynesian religion, we HRAs will grieve because we knew him to be the greatest Kahuna of our era. He was always available, our teacher, guide, ‘secret friend’ and confidante. As a great philosopher, author and writer, he was never too busy to pray for us or to answer our long questions with a personal letter. We rejoice with him as he wings his way ever onward and upward. How To Use the Pendulum

By Max Freedom Long – [Mid-Summer 1951]

1. Make a pendulum or “bob” by tying a thread to a ring, button, wooden ball, medium size marble. A locket on a chain works well. Whatever you use should be about four inches from its end to where you hold it between thumb and lst and 2nd fingers. If right handed, use your right hand. Read more

PART I

The Investigation of Huna and How It Came About

DURING THE past century investigations have been made of native magic in Africa, India and other parts of the world. Spiritualistic phenomena have been certified as genuine and studied painstakingly by over a hundred recognized scientists. Religions have been surveyed and the instant or nearly instant miraculous healing at Lourdes verified.

But from all these studies and efforts there has come nothing faintly resembling a definite basic system, philosophy, theory, or psycho-religious science which would explain, even in the most general terms, the phenomena of the various fields. In fact, investigations in these fields began to arrive at a stalemate several years ago. New discoveries have been conspicuously lacking. Read more

THIS IS A LETTER ABOUT RECENT DISCOVERIES which have to do with THE VERY LATEST AND MOST EFFICIENT METHODS OF MAKING PRAYERS.

Dear Friend,

For three years, my friends and I have been experimenting with the methods of prayer found in a recently rediscovered and very ancient system of thought, belief and practice which had no name, but was always spoken of by the initiates who knew it, as “THE’ SECRET.” The system was based on religious knowledge and psychology. It appears to be the “strong meat” which Jesus reportedly reserved for his disciples – a secret lore covering the ways of getting miraculous healing results through a certain method of making and delivering prayers.
